Since September, engineering students at Southampton University have been putting their engineering, design, and manufacturing skills to the test to build a new single-seat race car; which they plan to race in July in Formula Student – Europe’s most established educational motorsport competition.
Mark Pillow, managing director of Voip Unlimited visited the student team at Southampton University to see how the car is progressing after four months. He said: “The students have been working really hard and it is great to see their progress; they are now entering into the manufacturing stage and going through the final development of areas such as their telemetry system. I hope that the technical and financial support Voip Unlimited offers will enable the students to build on last year’s success and move forward as a team.”
Team leader Dan Castro added:
“It’s been great to have Voip on board as a main sponsor for our team. With their knowledge, connections, and experience within motorsport they have proven invaluable to our development; both technically and with raising the profile of the team. I have no doubt that, with the help of VoIP, this year will be the best year yet for SUFST”.
Voip Unlimited’s sponsorship consolidates their commitment to helping students and young people develop skills for the workplace. The company is already a keen supporter of Dorset’s ‘Enterprise and Skills Challenge’, an employability skills programme inspiring entrepreneurial behaviour in young people.
